CNN in New York —. Jon Stewart is continuing his role as host of “The Daily Show” until December 2025. Alongside hosting the Comedy Central show on Monday evenings, the experienced comedian will also stay on as executive producer for the show throughout the week, as different comedians take turns hosting. The Paramount-owned network shared this announcement on Monday. “I’ve genuinely loved returning to work with the amazing team at ‘The Daily Show’ and Comedy Central,” Stewart stated. “I was really hoping they’d let me work every other Monday, but I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.” Paramount Global co-CEO and CEO and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, Chris McCarthy, commended Stewart as “one of the most significant voices in today’s political and cultural commentary.” Jon Stewart talks with Tim Walz as we enter the intense phase of the campaign. “McCarthy stated that his skill in navigating the chaos and providing clear insights is precisely what we require, which is why we are excited to have him at the helm of ‘The Daily Show’ for another year.” Stewart left “The Daily Show” in 2015 after 16 years as host, and Trevor Noah took over, hosting until 2022. After Noah’s exit, the show had difficulty securing a permanent host and chose to have a rotating group of comedians lead the program. Stewart’s return to “The Daily Show,” which was revealed in January, was part of an effort to improve the show’s declining ratings. The decision to re-hire has mostly been a success, as Stewart’s return has consistently resulted in higher ratings than the show has experienced in the past few years.
